Shades Love For Lily Is A Beautiful Thing

*I read a review complaining that this book was nothing but a rehash of The Last Riders series. A lot of it is but it's from Shade's POV and I loved every chapter. If you've read the series, you know we all wanted to know what Shade was doing or thinking during a lot of his downtime, during his waiting on Lily. What he was doing and thinking while helping his brothers with their women. We wanted to see how his mind worked while he manipulated things like votes and markers for Lily. We get that here. This is it. This tells that story and more. This book is not the companion to Shade's Fall from Shades POV. It's Shades POV throughout the entire series. If you liked Shade at all during those books, you will love this one.*

I don't even know where to start with my love for this book. I have bookshelves full of old classic Johanna Lindsey's. Sherrilyn Kenyon's, a Kindle full of Kristen Ashley, Jamie Begley and more. This book solidified Shade as my number one hero, book boyfriend, anti-hero, lover, friend, badass, alpha. Whatever label you want to put on him, Shade is it.
I was so happy to read this book from his POV. He was so heavily played in some of the other books and all we knew was he was a badass sniper with no emotion but his love for Lily and according to Viper, a mean m*therf*cker. He ended up with the biggest heart of all of them while never losing an ounce of his badass persona.
Shades love for Lily was a beautiful thing. I feel so much for this book, I can't put it all into words.
My ONLY issues-
-I want someone to slap the mess out of Bliss. My least favorite character that we're supposed to like.
-I need more Lucky.
-The sex club is my least favorite part of these books because it seems the women all give in to easily. The guy says "wait, watch, you'll like it" and they just do. The sex between the couples is OFF THE CHARTS amazing and I love when they watch each other. As long as I never read (ie) Viper touching Beth, Knox doing Lily or Cash telling Rachel to blow Train, while these couples are in love and married, I'm good. Get the popcorn, sit and watch. Do not touch.

Amazing. Read this book.

When this book was first announced I have to say, I was nervous that it wouldn't be everything that I hoped. But Jamie Begley went above and beyond my expectations! Shade was one of my favorite characters (along with Viper) from the very first book but he was one of those characters that you loved but couldn't connect with. This book allows us to gain that personal connection we have craved throughout the series and to understand and love even more the man who always remained such a mystery. Shade (the book) goes from that first sighting of Lily and we see certain key scenes from the previous books from Shade's view and while some may have an issue with that, I didn't because I always wanted to know Shade's inner thoughts during those scenes. I have to say that if you have not read the previous books that you think about that before reading this book. The scenes with the other women didn't bother me because we still felt Shade's love and devotion and once he committed to finally pursuing Lily nothing could stop him.

Let's give a moment to that epilogue because it was the most beautiful but heartbreaking thing ever written and I LOVED it. Where can I find a Shade in real life?

Things this book cemented for me:
- My obsession with this series
- Shade as one of my all time favorite heroes
- Jamie Begley as one of my favorite authors
- My absolute hate of Bliss (please Literary Gods get rid of her)
- My wish that Train and Killyama become a couple (let us all take a moment and wish for a Last Riders- Biker Bitches book)

Things to consider:
- Who will win the heart of Rider?
- Lucky. Oh Lucky, how I loved you throughout the series but you were knocked off your pedestal in this book. If Willa becomes your love interest I hope you prove yourself worthy in your book because you were kinda a douche in Shade.

Freaking Phenomenal!!!

I just want to clarify before I begin telling you my thoughts on this book by stating that anything I say past this statement will never do this book justice, I truly believe there aren't any words in any language to accurately state how magnificent this book was.

As soon as I got wind that Jamie Begley was coming out with another book featuring Shade and Lilly, with it being in Shade's point of view, having those private moments we didn't get to see in the previous books, and also the continuation of their story after Cash's Fight, I knew that this book would freaking break me. I knew no matter how Jamie did the story I was going to be changed forever, and I was right. As I am writing this review a day after it was released and approximately five minutes after finishing Shade I want to crawl back into its pages and experience it all over again, and I wouldn't even skip the ending that had tears rolling down my face.

I couldn't have asked for a better book. I never imagined that all the questions I had would have been answered, all the mysteries that had some light shed on them, and lastly, but most importantly, a love that would be imprinted onto my heart forever. Out of all the books that I have read Shade has been deemed by me as the 2nd greatest love story I've ever read. I will love and cherish this book.

A couple of things that haven't (or have) changed for me in this series are:
1. I loath Bliss even more
2. Lucky doesn't deserve Willa (this is a new discovery)
3. Killyama is still a much-loved mystery to me
**I promise you these aren't spoilers.

I don't tell people what books they should buy because everyone's different and I don't' feel comfortable doing that. In the case of Shade whether you have read Shade's Fall or the other books in Jamie Begley's Last Riders series give it a serious chance. Don't just put it on your TBR list to collect dust, when you finish the book (s) you are reading now please plan on purchasing this. Yes, its on the expensive side (not too expensive) but for 800+ pages it's well worth the price I promise you that.

All the Shade and Lilly fans out there I'm pretty sure we're all thinking the same thing... “This book has exceeded my expectations by 1,000!”

Whether it's Train's or Lucky's story next I will definitely be reading, nothing could keep me away.

The Return Of Ichigo

Ichigo returns from Hueco Mundo and confronts Aizen. The Former Captain Ichimaru interrupts them as a former soul reaper joins in on the fight. It is a good read and there are only two more volumes left after this in the very long Arrancar Arc of Bleach. Any fan of the manga or anime will enjoy this.

All of this ATTACK-MISS, ATTACK-HEAL, ATTACK-OOPS, IT'S JUST AN ILLUSION stuff is starting to annoy me.

Yamamoto uses a forbidden technique that can only be used by sacrificing the users body, but unfortunately Aizen only gets singed a little. But Yamamoto's sacrifice left an opening for Ichigo to launch another surprise attack. Finally Aizen receives a wound! The only problem is that the Hogyoku healed him.

This arc seems like it's going to go on forever. Would someone just kill Aizen already so the story can progress? All of this ATTACK-MISS, ATTACK-HEAL, ATTACK-OOPS, IT'S JUST AN ILLUSION stuff is starting to annoy me.

"Ichigo Kurosaki...All of your battles took place in the palm of my hand."

Apparently, Aizen was behind everything that happened to Ichigo since he met Rukia and became a Soul Reaper. Aizen was sure that Ichigo would be the best subject for his research. There is one little mistake in the dialogue when Aizen says that Ichigo had never seen a Hollow until the night he met Rukia. That isn't true. Ichigo saw the Hollow that killed his mother when he was younger.

"I've known you from the moment you were born. You were born special. Because you are human and..."

And then Ichigo's dad appears in all his Soul Reaper glory. Ichigo is half-human and half-Soul Reaper. We already knew that, but this is Ichigo's first time hearing (and seeing) about it. He's surprised at first, but he takes the news pretty maturely and tells his dad that he won't ask questions and he'll wait until his dad is ready to tell him about it.

Ichigo finally has his battle with Gin Ichimaru, while his dad attacks Aizen. Gin is one of those characters that always has his eyes closed, but you know that when they open, he's completely serious about what he's saying or doing. As they fight, Gin comes to the realization that Ichigo is going to become even stronger than he is now.

The Hogyoku is pretty much the reason for Rukia losing her powers, and Chad and Orihime gaining their special powers. The Hollowfying of Shinji Hirako and the others was an experiment to verify the powers of the Hogyoku. With his suspicions confirmed, Aizen sent Rukia to Ichigo. It's kind of scary how much power to Hogyoku has, and something that powerful in Aizen's hands really isn't good--especially since he's fused with it.

Urahara makes his entrance using a bunch of fancy Bakudo, Kido, and Hado, but they don't really seem to have done much of anything to Aizen. He didn't come alone, though. As Urahara and Isshin (Ichigo's dad) restrain Aizen--in his new creepy form--Yoruichi attacks from above. It's getting really old seeing all these different people attacking Aizen and barely leaving a scratch.

As Ichigo watches Urahara, Isshin, and Yoruichi fight Aizen, he begins to lose hope. With lost hope comes lost strength. If Ichigo wants to protect his friends, his family, and his town from Aizen, he'll need to regain the hope that they'll defeat Aizen and make it out alive.

About the Author
Oliver Davies is Reader in Philosophical Theology in the University of Wales and has written a number of studies of Christian mystical writers, including Meister Eckhart: Mystical Theologian (SPCK 1991). The first volume of his Systematic Theology in three parts appeared as A Theology of Compassion (SCM Press 2001), and the second volume, On the Creativity of God, is currently under preparation.

Hans Urs von Balthasar (1905-88), a Swiss theologian and priest, is considered by many the most important Catholic theologian of the twentieth century. Incredibly prolific and diverse, he wrote over one hundred books and many hundreds of articles. A favorite theologian and spiritual writer of Pope Francis, as well as the two previous Popes, he was called the most cultured man of our time by Henri de Lubac, and Karl Rahner described his achievements as really breathtaking.

Rowan Williams was enthroned as Archbishop of Canterbury in February 2003. His previous positions include Archbishop of Wales, Lady Margaret Professor of Divinity, Oxford and Dean of Clare College, Cambridge. He has taught theology for more than fifteen years in five continents, worked as a parish priest, and published widely. His previous publications include "Teresa of Avila" (1991), "Open to Judgment" (1994) and "Sergi Bulgakov" (1999).

Western Culture in 400 pages

This book blew me away. After getting through volume II and III, I was not prepared for the power of his narrative and his argument. The text follows Western Metaphysics from Homer and Pindar through the classics all the way until Thomas Aquinas. The breadth of his erudition is absurd. At one point I had to stop and read Aeschylus, Euripides, and Virgil in order to grasp what he was discusses. If it has been a while since you have studied the classics I would recommend a brief tutorial before embarking on this adventure, it is well worth the wait.

An amazing theology

I've read many works of theology and most are fairly forgettable. They trot out the basic dogma of their sect, usually followed in a mechanical fashion with the usual quotations from the Bible or from tradition.

Yet sometimes you are lucky enough to come across a creative theologian, a theologian who is able to make you look at religious ideas in a new an innovative way. Von Balthasar is one such theologian.

In this series of works (going to seven volumes) Balthasar introduces the idea of a 'theological aesthetic.' This idea sounds very abstract but to put it in simpler words; theology is about Beauty, the Beauty of God.

Balthasar argues a key attribute of the Absolute/God in Western tradition, be it religious, mythical or theological, is Beauty. Beauty is rightly associated with Goodness, Truth and Being, and all these are rightly associated with God.

Balthasar aims to restore the ideal of the beauty of God by examining the Beauty of God and of the created world, as shown in the Bible, in Greek myth, in philosophy, and in Catholic Theology. Balthasar's most insightful comments often are made about key Church fathers, including Denys, who emphasized the Beauty of God in his theology.

I myself felt Balthasar's work was very valuable for recovering a neglected aspect of theology, the role of theology and theological issues in relation to creative art. The focus in the 20th century and in much of the preceding centuries was to make theology compatible with economic or social thought or with science or philosophy, but not with creative art.

Balthasar also recognises the key element of art in the work of mystics like Eckhart and St John of Cross.

This series forms a valuable exploration of the aesthetic dimension to theology and I am sure future students of art and theology will find it a valuable aid to their own explorations.

v B is the most influential of modern theologians [Catholic], JPII and Benedict follow his lead and his literature background only gives his theology a realness uncommon. Think Augustine, Acquinas, v Balthasar
but he is wordy, as he believes the stone structure of Thomas, et al, will not bring in the flock, he is both calling and reminding each of us that truth always, always is wrapped in beauty, not as adornment but as the mysterious consequence or truth

if you don't have the time, read his 'love alone is credible'.................................
