Really Liked It

4 1/2 stars. I thought this story was well done. I read the premise, and I couldn't understand how the author could make the H dump the h, break her heart, and then have them "fake" a relationship for her safety and still be believable. I really thought she pulled it off. I felt the characters and their motives were explained well, and I loved, loved, LOVED how the heroine did not make it too easy for the hero to get back in her good graces. Well written, with a good balance of romance and suspense. Spicy intimate scenes. My only complaint is I wish it was longer!

A 4.5 A very yummy adult shortish novel. We meet Jenna and Bryce when he breaks up with her in a most unforgivable manner. Even though the book is only 100 pages, right out of the gate, we get a clear picture of these two - they have a combustible chemistry that plays out in the bedroom but they each have shields that protect them from hurt. I really connected with Bryce - this is my second Allyson Young book and I absolutely love her alpha males - Bryce is a cop who has that protective, possessive thing down! Jenna is strong, seemingly knows the score but still finds herself emotionally vulnerable. The secondary characters are nicely fleshed out. Jenna's life is in danger and she has to deal with Bryce to help her. They have to work out their issues and the author handles it nicely. No drawn out angst like some of the new adults out there - no over the top drama. Just two adults making a decision to deal with the hard stuff and communicate. A nice taste of kink and some very hawt sexy times and a wee bit of suspense. Smoking hawt! Will be back for more of Ms Young's work.

About the Author
W. T. Godbey is the Paul H. and Donna D. Assistant Professor in the Department of Chemical and Bimolecular Engineering at Tulane University. He received his B.S. in Mathematics from Southern Methodist University in 1988. After a successful period that involved starting his own software design and development company in Dallas, Texas, he joined the fields of science and engineering and earned his PhD as a National Science Foundation Graduate Fellow from the Institute for Biosciences and Bioengineering at Rice University in 2000. From 2000-2003 he was a postdoctoral fellow at Childrens Hospital, Boston and Harvard Medical School. He joined the Tulane University faculty in 2003.

Over the past ten years, the Beardstown Ladies Investment Club has produced an impressive average annual return of 23 percent. The key to its investment success is summarized in a single page in the book: members depend heavily on Value Line rankings and apply some fundamental analysis to their stock selections. The 16 women club members, who include a secretary, a school principal, and a hog farmer and who range in age from 41 to 82, also discuss management practices that contribute to running a successful investment club. Since many clubs fail, their practical advice might be useful to others considering such a venture, though guidance is available from other sources. The one-page biographies of the club members together with their favorite recipes adds little to the minimal value of this book.

What a crock

The folksy advice sounds too good to be true--and it is. How couldn't someone--anyone--have seen that the so-called "returns" on investment are rigged? The media waited too long to expose the fact that the authors included club fees in figuring how they supposedly "beat the market." In fact, the market beat THEM. Don't waste your time or money.

how can you trust a book with an error in the title?

News reports are now saying that the Beardstown Ladies club annual investment returns were under 10%, rather than over 20%, because of a mistaken calculation. Whopping blunders are not the way to inspire confidence in their advice.

Ok, the ladies did get people interested in investing, but they really screwed up in the end. I can't believe that they still do speaking engagements about investing--to me, they're the Milli Vanillies of the investment world!

The original Leaves from the Inn of the Last Home--first published back in 1987--was a must-have reference for Dragonlance fans, packed with supplementary material that included short stories, songs, and recipes. More Leaves delivers more of the same and even offers promising instructions for War of the Lance dishes like dragon-blasted steak and kender rolls. (Which, of course, kender rely on for "doughnutlike sweetness to give them indefatigable energy").

As with the first book, More Leaves both hits and misses, drawing from professional and a few not-quite-all-pro contributors: some of the kender taunts are nothing short of lame ("Wow! You smell so rotten a gully dwarf wouldn't give you a bath"), but detailed bios on each of Anasalon's dragon overlords, for example, will likely interest even nonfans. The bottom line is that any DL true believer really can't go wrong picking this up, if not for patented gnomish inventions and trés cool magic items, then for inspired treatises like "Slugs, fungi, molds, and other things I hope to never see again." --Paul Hughes

Composed for fans, by some fans.

This is a pretty good book similiar to two previous Dragonlance compilations (the original Leaves from the Inn of the Last Home, and The History of the Dragonlance saga). This book has contributions from Dragonlance fans who wanted to add their ideas about the Dragonlance world. If you're looking for something new you'll find it in here. Having the first two books makes this book a better buy.

GOOD, but not as much as the original!

MORE LEAVES FROM THE INN OF THE LAST HOME is an excellent compiliation of recipies, maps and short tales of both PRE 5th age and POST 5th age. Well worth the money spent, but it doesn't compare to it's precursor, Leaves from the Inn of the Last Home (which they REALLY should reprint). If you are a diehard Dragonlance fan, I don't see how you could be without this book. If you're a casual DL reader, you could probably get along with out it.

Like the other two books in this series, "More Leaves from the Inn of Last Home" is a wonderful and sparkling collection of impressions, pictures, stories, tales, poems and arts concerning the world of Dragonlance. Most likely, Dragonlancers will love these books. SCAdians may even like the material on Knightly Orders -- and their armor -- and other Medieval-like contents such as large-scale missile-weapons. Anyone may like the sheer variety of creativity.

These "scrapbooks" are very clever collections -- not using many game-specific stats. So, with these three "scrapbooks", edited by Margaret Weis and Tracy Hickman, you have a fairly full set of Dragonlance sourcebooks, with unique bonus extras, for Dragonlance and D&D to D20 related RPGs -- or even remotely related games +++
